With years 3 and 4 away on the Woolongong excursion we have taken the opportunity to do a bit of cooking with our MultiLit kids. As it can take a bit of time, and we always seem to be rushing from student to student, it was nice to slow down and spend a bit more time with our students. Cooking is a great activity. Students learn new vocabulary (like desiccated) and comprehension is essential in order to complete the steps. Lots of maths skills are also used in cooking.
To be consistent with the language being used in years 5 and 6 we had three success criteria and a learning intention. The success criteria were:
I have added some photos to show you what a great job they did. Unfortunately, the kids prefer to take their creations home rather than give them to the teachers! I'm told they tasted good!

- read every step, in order
- remember to read every sentence in the step
